About this tradition
The most striking Holy Week event in Mallorca. A jointed sculpture of Christ (14th c.) is unclasped at the Calvari oratory and descends in sepulchral silence down 365 torch-lit steps while the choir sings the Miserere. Declared of tourist interest in 1968.
Associated gastronomy
Panades (meat pies of lamb or chicken with peas), brossat curd robiols, crespells shortbread.
