About this tradition
Campos celebrates its patron saint just as Christmas ends, with a winter festival that links straight into Sant Antoni ten days later. Two weeks of January in which the village does not stop.
History & origin
Sant Julià the Hospitaller, patron of Campos since the town was founded in the 13th century, was invoked by travellers and innkeepers. Campos, at the crossroads towards the migjorn and with the port of sa Ràpita, was for centuries an obligatory stopping place.
How it is celebrated
Solemn mass in the parish church, one of the largest in volume on the island. Processó, and in the days that follow the Sant Antoni atmosphere begins: the bonfires are built and the village smells of woodsmoke for two weeks.
Ritual elements
