About this tradition
Esporles's main festival, at the turn from spring to summer, with the torrent that crosses the village as a natural stage and a long week of events ending on the night of Sant Pere.
History & origin
Esporles grew along the torrent, with mills and oil presses using the water. Sant Pere, keeper of the keys, was also patron of those who controlled water — a resource shared by turns in the Serra since Andalusi times.
How it is celebrated
Correfoc along the main street, ball de bot in the plaça d'Espanya and verbenes over several nights. There are rocket firings and the traditional descent of the torrent with activities for children when the flow allows.

Associated gastronomy
Frit mallorquí and arròs brut. The sweets of the local bakeries, famous here. Herbes d'Esporles, made with herbs gathered in the Serra.

MA-1100 from Palma. Buses 200/203. Parking is difficult during the festival: better at the village entrance.
