About this tradition
The spring fair of the Raiguer, in a village combining vines, textile craft and a market tradition going back centuries. Santa Maria fills its long main street with stalls when the almond blossom has passed and the vine is budding.
History & origin
Santa Maria del Camí owes its name to standing on the royal road from Palma to Inca, a position that made it a natural market place. Production of robes de llengües, the Mallorcan ikat fabric, is still alive here on family looms.
How it is celebrated
Craft market through the centre, an exhibition of robes de llengües and loom demonstrations. Open cellars — Santa Maria is in the DO Binissalem — and a show of agri-food produce.
